Why I Decided to Build a Business

Online Biz Academy is not a “get-rich-quick” program (and honestly, after trying other so-called passive income schemes like selling on Etsy, Redbubble, and dropshipping, I can tell you that most things require time and effort). But, this course gives you a real roadmap to build a sustainable business that’s in it for the long haul.

Was I making six figures in 2 months? No. But within just under two months, I landed my biggest project yet and started signing high-value clients at $3k and $5k, plus I FINALLY had the freedom to travel while working remotely. So, while the results might not be instant, they are absolutely possible if you put in the work.

Who am I? (and why should you care?) 

If you don’t care about me or my journey from broke freelancer to thriving online business owner, no worries! Feel free to skip ahead. But if you’re curious about who I am and why I’m writing this, here’s a quick introduction:

I’m Sasha, and I currently work as one of the coaches at OBA. But before that, I was running a successful videography business, creating social media ads for restaurants. I was charging $2k, $3k, even $5k per package, plus getting monthly retainers of $1-1.5k. These days, I live off my coaching work with OBA (and some old videography/social media marketing clients), and I’m able to travel the world while working remotely.

I also have a YouTube channel where I share my travels, and a travel blog (yes, this travel blog!) which I started in August 2023. It’s a fun side project for me!

If you’re wondering why you should care, here’s a little before and after for you: 

Before OBA

In my first year out of college, freelancing full-time, I made hardly any money at all. 

When I first tried freelancing full-time, it was a struggle. I was freelancing on sites like Fiverr and Upwork, working several part-time jobs, and applying for full-time jobs at the same time. I was barely getting job interviews and stuck with inconsistent, low-paying gigs.

I made $1,000 in my first year of freelancing on Fiverr, and after six months on Upwork, I barely made $500. I was about ready to give up and accept that I’d be working random low-paying jobs forever…

Then I saw an email from Amy, offering a way to sign higher-paying clients, in the thousands, with less of my time… (she was also reaching out to people via Instagram and LinkedIn. I just wasn’t really active on either):

I was worried it was too good to be true, and I was definitely worried about getting scammed. Right out of college, I lost $500 to a “job offer” promising me remote, flexible hours…(part of the scam included sending them money so they could buy me my new work software 🙄).

I was skeptical at first, but after talking with Amy and her team, I realized that Amy was for real. She really had a solution for my broke-freelancer woes. I decided to take the jump, and go all in with myself and my business.

After everything I had been through trying to figure out how to build a business on my own, I knew I needed a mentor. 

After OBA

Within just a few months, everything changed. I went from barely earning anything to making $9,500 in my first 6 months after the course.

The types of gigs I was offering on Fiverr:

This jump from 1k over 2 years to 9.5k in 3 months didn’t happen overnight. It happened because I followed the path that OBA laid out in front of me. I earned more money with the help of a mentor than I had ever earned trying to freelance on my own.

This is the course I credit with helping me get to where I am today in my online business journey, which is earning a FULL TIME INCOME online, being able to work from anywhere in the world, from my laptop.

Why I loved Online Biz Academy

Personalized Attention 

Out of all the business courses I’ve taken, OBA is by far the easiest to follow. The content is laid out in simple steps, and I never felt lost or overwhelmed. Amy really knows how to break things down in a way that makes sense, and she never makes you feel stupid for having a question.

I really appreciated the mindset modules in the beginning of the course too – I joined OBA thinking that my mindset was amazing and I was eager to learn the strategy side of things, but little did I know that a lot of the problems I was experiencing with my business had to do with the way I was thinking about business. 

While there are a lot of business coaches out there with big claims, OBA was the only course I felt like where the coaches truly cared about my success. I wasn’t just another student, I was a real human being and they genuinely wanted me to succeed.

It’s extremely helpful to be able to bounce ideas back and forth with someone while you’re completing the worksheets in OBA.

As I mentioned, there’s a ton of 1:1 and group coaching support. Every student is assigned an accountability coach, who’s available to answer your questions daily, give you a confidence boost, or point you in the right direction.
